Beh Tok Koay
Senior Advisor, Tax
Mr Beh has more than 30 years experience in taxation both with the Inland Revenue and as a leader in Deloitte. He has advised large local and multinational clients on complex tax engagements in areas including IPOs, corporate reconstruction, privatisation, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and others. He has led many delegations in dialogues and discussions with Government authorities.
He was the President of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) from 2002 to 2004, and is currently a Council Member of MICPA. He is also the Chairman of MICPA’s Tax Practice Committee. |

Mok Chew Yin
Executive Director, Advisory
Mok has undertaken numerous valuations, financial due diligence and corporate finance assignments locally and overseas. He has also been involved in governance advisory engagements including internal audit and enterprise risk management and in various insolvency administrations.
He is now involved in GST and his client engagements cover various industries including power, water, construction, IT services, shipping and trading.
Mok has prior commercial experience as a Senior General Manager (Corporate Finance) in a large diversified group listed on Bursa Malaysia and as a member of the senior management team overseeing group operations. He also has seven years audit experience with a UK accounting firm and another five years advisory experience with KPMG in Melbourne, Australia. |

Ng Swee Weng
Senior Advisor, Tax
Ng Swee Weng is the Senior Advisor for Advisory at BDO Malaysia. Prior to joining BDO Malaysia, Swee Weng was a Partner at KPMG Malaysia since 1989. He was seconded to the KPMG office in Milwaukee, America from 1982 to 1984. While at KPMG, he served as the partner-in-charge of the Northern Division and was also the national Risk Management Partner as well as a member of the Audit and Accounting Committee which provides directives and consultative support on technical issues. Swee Weng has extensive experience in coordinating and managing complex assurance assignments in the palm oil and plantation, manufacturing, trading, construction and property development industries. He is also an experienced investigating accountant who has worked on numerous due diligence exercises and has been the reporting accountant on many IPOs and Bond/Rights Issues.
He is currently a Project Leader for the GST team at BDO Malaysia. |

Jeff O’Connell
Executive Director, Tax (GST)
Jeff has in excess of 30 years of indirect tax experience across the Australian Taxation Office, professional services as well as being an in-house advisor in Australia and Papua New Guinea.
In addition to being involved in several landmark court cases in relation to indirect taxation, Jeff’s GST implementation experience is significant across several different industries.

- Queensland Sugar Limited, a major sugar marketing and sales company
- Queensland Rail (at the time, including what is now Aurizon Ltd), the largest integrated rail, freight and haulage operator in Australia
- Grainco (now Graincorp), one of the largest grain handling companies in Australia.

Ang Ah Leck
Executive Director, Tax & GST
Ang Ah Leck is an Executive Director for Tax & GST at BDO Malaysia. Prior to joining BDO, Ah Leck was a partner in KPMG Malaysia’s Johor Bahru branch office. He joined KPMG Malaysia in 1978. In 1987 he was seconded to the KPMG office in Houston, Texas. In 1997, he was admitted as a partner of the firm and served as the partner-in-charge of the firm’s Southern Division.
Ah Leck has extensive experience in coordinating and managing complex assurance assignments in the oil & gas, plantation, manufacturing, trading, construction and property development industries. He is also an experienced investigating accountant who has worked on numerous due diligence exercises and has been the reporting accountant on many IPOs and Bond/Rights Issues.
He is currently a Project Leader for the GST team at BDO Malaysia. |

Gan Hock Soon
Executive Director, Advisory & GST
Hock Soon has close to 20 years’ experience with firms in Malaysia, China, ASEAN, Europe and USA. From a professional engineer venturing into financial services, his career encompasses both professional services and commercial business, having held the post of Audit Partner of BDO Malaysia, Head of an Audit Department in KPMG and being previously attached to a public listed company in Europe.
From there, he gained broad exposure in the areas of audit, corporate finance and planning, cross-border transactions, human resources, enterprise risk management as well as investor relations programmes.
He is currently the Executive Director in charge of GST project implementation, leading GST project teams at BDO Malaysia |

Lee Boon Hooi
Executive Director, Tax
Boon Hooi is an Executive Director of Tax at BDO Malaysia’s Northern Practice Office. She has more than 15 years of experience in handling tax matters for multinationals and local companies such as tax audit, tax planning and advisory, tax incentives, transfer pricing, indirect tax and stamp duty.

Ong Eng Choon
Executive Director, Tax
Mr Ong has more than 30 years of collective experience in taxation with the Inland Revenue Board, a Big 5 tax practice and a mid-sized firm. His extensive experience covers cross border transactions, corporate restructuring, Initial Public Offerings (IPOs), and representing taxpayers in the area of tax audits and criminal and civil tax investigation work.
He is the current lead engagement Executive Director for GST implementation for companies in Penang involved in property development and construction, manufacturing, and trading activities. |

Chan Chow Pong
Advisor, Tax (GST)
Mr Chan specialises in the area of Indirect Tax, having over 40 years of work experience both in the Government and private sectors. He served as Assistant Director with the Royal Malaysian Customs (RMC) for 25 years before he joined an international accounting firm as a Director.
During his tenure with RMC, he had the opportunity to be attached to Revenue Canada (GST Division) to understand and plan for the implementation of Malaysian GST. He was directly involved in advising clients on Sales and Service Tax and GST issues and planning opportunities. He was also involved in the preparation of GST Memoranda for various industries for submission to the Tax Review Panel of Ministry of Finance, Malaysia. |

David Lai Shin Fah
Head of Tax Advisory
David has over 23 years of work experience in professional practice (audit and tax), investment banking and in a commercial group. Prior to joining BDO, David was CFO in a multinational financial group. His corporate experience at senior management level has enabled him to translate technical professional advice into practical business solutions.
David has extensive tax experience in cross border transactions and has also led numerous transfer pricing engagements for both domestic and multinational groups. He has served as a Council Member of CTIM as well as Chairperson of the Technical Committee – Indirect Taxation. |

Sanjay Sidhu
Executive Director, Advisory
With over 23 years of assurance, advisory and compliance experience, Sanjay currently manages a portfolio of internal audit outsourcing, forensic, and risk and governance engagements. He is also actively involved with GST IT engagements.
Prior to his return to Malaysia from the Netherlands in 2012, Sanjay held internal audit leadership roles at a number of Fortune 500 companies, with responsibility for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Sanjay’s previous corporate experience includes risk assessments, audit plans, financial, operational and compliance audits, Information Systems governance and assurance, shared services centres, outsourcing, Sarbanes-Oxley, principal-commissionaire models, and quality assurance reviews. |

Woon Tai Hai
Executive Director, Advisory
Woon has more than 30 years’ of work experience in Information Technology and Management Consulting in both public and private sectors. His key areas of expertise include IT Strategy and blue print formulation, system selection and integration, business transformation involving process re-engineering and realignment.
He was a Partner with KPMG and Partner-In-Charge of the Business Performance Services. Woon was a Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the firm for a role he held for more than 10 years before he retired from the partnership in 2013.
Currently, he is the immediate past chairman and an advisor to PIKOM – National ICT Association of Malaysia and Member of National IT Council (NICT). |

Lee Sin Kui
Director, Tax
Sin Kui has 15 years of working experience and exposure with the professional accounting firms and in the private sector. While in the professional accounting firms, she was involved in audit, tax and financial advisory in relation to insolvency services assignments.
She is presently the director for GST project implementation, covering assignments in the property development and construction, shipping, restaurants and trading activities. |

Tracy Ma Li Li
Director, Tax
Tracy has approximately 9 years of experience with firms in the UK, China and Malaysia. She has provided audit service in various industries which include insurance, fund management, banking, manufacturing, media, industrial products, building and construction, property management and trading.
She currently manages a portfolio of listed and non-listed statutory audit clients in the UK, China and Malaysia. She has been involved in special assignments such as comprise Forensic projects and tax assignment.
Tracy is currently the Director in charge of GST project implementation, leading GST project teams at BDO Malaysia. |

Shareena Martin
Director, Tax
Shareena was previously attached to the tax and audit divisions at PwC before joining a public-listed property development company as a Senior Finance Manager. In this commercial role, she garnered extensive finance experience in various industries spanning logistics, outsourcing, precious metals trading and mining, broadcasting and media.
Prior to joining BDO, Shareena was a Financial Controller in a concession company involved in the supply of bio-medical equipment to Government clinics in Malaysia. |
